Interesting to note the following from the Sept. 22 Merrill Lynch report, "Networking Computing in the Enterprise, Thin to Win."

* Although we do not feel network computers will replace PC's in the next five years, we do believe that the network computing model is here to stay

* Advantages include 1) lower total cost 2) centralized administration 3) increased security 4) ease of use 5) portability and 6) longer life cycle

* The technology has not yet stabilized and many companies are holding onto their checkbooks because of these issues 1) lack of wide industry support 2) lack of software applications 3) network captivity and 4) performance

* Any company that is using text-based terminals, has application specific workers, seasonal demand, or security concerns is a prime target for the NC revolution

* Companies in telecom, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, airline and catalog industires are well positioned to take advnatage of NCs (did they leave anything out?)

* Revenue growth could accelerate as customers shift to this new computing architecture, favoring vendors such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, Baan and SAP (Sun acknowledged later)

Anyone missing from that list?

Hello?

What is the zip code for Canada?

I guess Merrill tech analysts do not read USA Today. AND WHAT IDIOT WOULD THINK THEY DO?!

Happy Investing!
