Anybody see Bill Maher tonight? He had CC Goldwater on speaking of Barry.
I guess I'd say those were the good old days.
My mom and dad used to go around America filming wildlife.
One trip they took was to Arizona, and this was when Barry had retired from politics.
They were in Barry's vicinity, and my folks went over to Barry's house. No secret service agents were there.
(They were absolutely not into politics much at all, just nature lovers.)
Actually they just wanted to ask him where to find some good sites to film.
He just invited them in like an ordinary person would do back then, and helped them decide where to find the best spots to film some exotic birds. I forget if they were eagles or condors or whatever.
I remember my folks telling me how very nice Barry was to them, pleased to help them set up their filming attempts. Just a nice old retired politician.
Gosh Barry got a raw deal with that campaign ad against him showing a nuke going off and blowing over a field of daisies. I think Lyndon did that one against Barry.
Anyway that's my Barry Goldwater story.
No punchline, just a fond memory.

P.S. My dad got some great film that trip.
