When I was a teen ager, I did all the work on my car (1940 Ford coupe). But in those days you could do it all with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers, practically. Today's cars are so computerized you have to have advanced degrees and zillions of dollars worth of equipment to work on them. A friend recently had to put a new battery in his 4 year old Buick LeSabre. It cost him nearly $200 because the geniuses at GM put the battery under the back seat, which had to be removed to replace the battery.
