Sell Rosh HaShana and buy Yom Kippur
Rosh Hashanah will occur on the following days of the Gregorian calendar:

* Jewish Year 5767 : sunset September 22, 2006 - nightfall September 24, 2006
* Jewish Year 5768 : sunset September 12, 2007 - nightfall September 14, 2007
* Jewish Year 5769 : sunset September 29, 2008 - nightfall October 1, 2008
* Jewish Year 5770 : sunset September 18, 2009 - nightfall September 20, 2009

Yom Kippur will occur on the following days of the Gregorian calendar:

* Jewish Year 5767 : sunset October 1, 2006 - nightfall October 2, 2006
* Jewish Year 5768 : sunset September 21, 2007 - nightfall September 22, 2007
* Jewish Year 5769 : sunset October 8, 2008 - nightfall October 9, 2008
* Jewish Year 5770 : sunset September 27, 2009 - nightfall September 28, 2009

I think its best to appreciate the warning we are given to Buy Rosh HaShanah and to Sell Yom Kippur. Major market crashes occur so frequently around Yom Kippur the Jewish New Year

The market crash of 1929 is called Black Thursday and occurred on October 24th, interestingly enough the market high of 1929 occurred on Yom Kippur of that year

Nifty Fifty stocks of the late 60s, which have all been touted to the masses as, must own stocks begin their declines. There are also Yom Kippur massacres in the market that occur back to back in 1978 and 1979. Once again the 1987 market crash occurred on October 20th and was very close to Yom Kippur of that year. Again in 1997 we have the mini-crash of October 27th

Its interesting to note that September 11th of 2001 created a market bottom that creates a buy Rosh HaShanah of that year. Had you followed the Buy Rosh in 1929, 73, 78, 79, 87, 97 and 2001 and Sell Yom in each of those same years you would have profited quite handsomely. This is all quite statistically remarkable and with events of the past few years ...makes one wonder what Yom Kippur will bring us this year. My bets are going to be that the market heads decidedly lower sometime on or shortly after October 1
