At present there is no plan to extended the ability to delete individual posts to moderators of existing boards. SI's paradigm is that the prospect of being banned is a better deterrent to abusive posting while also allowing better visibility to how the board is being moderated.

It is possible that a different type of moderated board with features such as the ability to ban, delete, and pre-approve who can post on it may be offered at a later date. There is nothing definitive in the works right now, so no estimation of when/if that will occur can be provided.
