Mr. Bean, You wrote: <Hire a team of professionals with proven track records.> Sounds good, but there is a danger here. Dr. Cowpland is a professional with a proven track record, isn't he? The problem with too many "seasoned professionals" is that they are stuck in the ruts of past markets, scenarios, and strategies. Here's a quote from Honest Abe:

"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must arise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew."

Abraham Lincoln

New ideas, new creativity, an aggressive mass marketing infrastructure and voila, you get sales!

Corel is placing all its cards on Mr. Sylvester's corporate contacts. Good Luck. With the Microsoft Barrier in the corporate psyche, a lot of his contacts may say. "Thanks Don, We'd love to work with you, but Top managment says we have to stay with what we've got."

I applaude his appointment, I wish the best for his success, but he needs a lot of mass psychology to help break down the Microsoft Barrier.
