Cheaper, maybe, I don't know, but not better.
The thing is, in America, young people have different priorities than paying for health insurance, because the odds are that they won't need it.
Health care for people on Medicare and Medicaid is quite good, so retirees and poor people have good coverage.
The rest of us have the ability to buy our own health care coverage, or set up medical savings accounts.
Should we all be taxed to cover everybody that would rather spend their money on other things?
If you have an entitlement mentality, the answer is yes.
If you believe in individual responsibility, the answer is no.
You believe in entitlements, I believe in individual responsiblity. The two belief systems are incompatible. But, we live in a democracy, so you don't get to impose your desire for entitlements on the rest of us, and it (naturally) makes you unhappy.
