Do you mean he's always had this softer side but the media has presented only his contentious side? I think that is accurate. He gives a lot of speeches to different audiences, but only the strongest rhetoric is reported here. The translations are also suspect. He did come off much softer and more reasonable than we have been led to believe he was like. How do you think this works? The media gets their cue from the president......if he doesn't like someone we all don't like him or her, or is it more concrete than that........the media are directed to whom they should praise and to whom they should trash? And you know how conspiracy theories have been invalidated? Well I suspect conspiracy theories are alive and well in this country. You know what I mean.
