Daley did not win it for Kennedy. I'm an expert on the history. Kennedy didn't even need Illinois, so even if Daley did steal Illinois it didn't matter. And Nixon cheated quite a bit downstate as well. That said, it's rumored Joe Kennedy stole West Virginia in the democratic primary to help get his son nominated. I believe that rumor. And Robert Kennedy Jr. recently condemned all cheating, even that 45 years ago by his grandfather. But Bush's grandfather was in business with the Nazis. So is a grandfather's sin his grandson's?

Daley and all those old-time big city machines were corrupt, but they do not exist anymore. Now all the election fraud is on the rightwing side and it's outrageous, huge and blatant. Bushies literally stole the last three elections. Of course they can only steal so many votes. They have to make the elections very close first, usually by using smear campaigns and dirty tricks. And by pandering to the religious right and using them as immoral foot soldiers. Religious right crooks like Ralph Reed have been a major corrupting influence in US politics.
