The market of computer industry favors ones that are less closer to being obsolete at the moment of purchase.

Wasn't 166 MHz the top speed for notebooks just 2 weeks ago? If you bought a notebook 3 weeks ago for $4,000 and up (the ones my employer buys - Toshiba 7xx line) it will become worth $1,500 in 3 months.

My opinion is that once PC buyers find out that they have to pay double or triple for barely perceptible (20-30%) performance gain, the market will change.
