For working people "struggling to pay bills", universal health care will cost them a heck of a lot more in taxes than $60 a year. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

For poor people, they can get Medicaid, or if they have too high an income for Medicaid, there are other state programs.

For example, in Virginia, we have FAMIS.

There's also S-CHIP, a federal program.
