Just a few thoughts instead of the book on investing that would be required to answer all your questions. The portfolio is down somewhat from the August-end high, but this is a volatile year. My energy positions dumped some this month.

Foreign stocks - some file with the SEC, the rest post their financials on company Web sites 2-4 times per year.

Criteria - go to howtotradestocks.com and spend some time with the knowledge base there. Otherwise, skim the thread since 1997 to see how my methods have evolved.

When to sell - ditto.

Fundamentals and diversification both play a part. I don't let any single stock become a larger loss than 0.5% of the portfolio. Within those limits, my willingness to hold depends on the quality of the fundamentals.

Spend more time lurking on the thread and you will start to see the answers you are looking for. They can't be summed up in one neat tidy package.
