I have 6 sisters and 4 brothers (born mid 60s to late 80s). My older sister has 6 kids.

My roommate's dad was from a family about the same size as mine, but I think they where born in the 20s and 30s in rural upper Michigan. He says that during the depression conditions there where similar to what we associate with third world countries today. (Well no dictatorship, civil war, or malaria)
