Rich - Re: " Do you think MU or the Japanese/Korean Dram companies are intels future competition based on the system on a chip idea and combining memory and processor and other functions on one chip especially using IBM new copper processes, UV, 300 wafers,.1 micron etc."

Of course, what you described will come to pass - probably in 3 or 4 months, maximum.

Japan and Korea will merge into one happy country and build 100 wafer fabs, all with 300 mm wafer size capability, using copper technology with 0.1 micron feature size, given to them for free by IBM, using PowerPC designs with embedded DRAM on chip. Financing will come from Intel's cash reserves, which the FTC will confiscate by Christmas, and Clinton & Gore will deliver the cash personally to Tokyo and Seoul.

All this should happen by next January, February at the latest.

Intel will be filing Chapter 11 papers about that time.
