The Securities Industry Association (SIA), Wall Street's lobbying group, told the SEC in a 17-page comment letter that the agency should take care not to institute changes that would increase market volatility, constrain stock and options market makers' ability to trade, and mandate disclosure of market data that could be misinterpreted.

Still, Knight contends that "to restrict, indeed eliminate, the ability of market makers to satisfy these investor needs will undoubtedly lead to less liquidity, greater volatility and widening of spreads."


Frankly all I can say is... don't let the door hit you on your way out. Who the hell needs 'em? Give me a computer network trading system any day. I'll take my chances on finding a trade without their "assisstance"... PLEASE!
