Ah the TV in the 40's! Sometimes it came on when you
turned the switch, but often one had to call a service person
and then a damned plane would fly over.
And it was black and white and cost a several hundred dollars
and minimum wage was $.25/hr. And there was nothing to watch, and local television, and no national cable and no world connections.
Those were real pioneers, and anyone who could believe in the
future of television had a powerful imagination.
Today's technophobes are depriving themselves of access to
the greatest interconnected store of knowledge and art that mankind has ever had, and its cheap, works most of the time, is growing at an
astounding rate and is often stunningly beautiful and deeply moving.
Any one who cannot see the future in the net is blind, and
soon (ca 10y) even (some of) the blind will be able to see it.
