a Brit centrist

Am too <g>
Indeed I'm seriously considering voting Tory, which I think would actually be the first time in any real election (most of my votes have been tactical, by unfortunate happenstance of where I lived).
This is partly because of loathing of Blair and his wilful misinterpretations (not quite lies) over Iraq, since I don't give him the benefit of inability to think deeply which shades Bush; but more because I'm so unimpressed with aspects of their economic and tax policy, especially PFI and the explosion of the consultant structure, and the way in which they have attempted to slough off responsibility for mismanagement by putting everything under arms length unaccountable agencies. Then of course there's the whole ID card issue, an expensive and repressive fiasco in the making.
And spending is a way up for little discernible benefit except in the numbers of state employees, who get expensive unfunded pensions at the rest of our expense, such that IRL most governmental bodies would be bankrupt... our oh-so-reformist government backed away from fixing this, not least because much of their funding (the portion which doesn't come from selling honours) comes from the unions.

So there's no way I will vote for the left party here, my only question is how best to unseat them.

I say 'considering voting Tory' because the Con haven't actually fixed on their economic policy yet. But I doubt it could be significantly worse.

</rant> thus a Brit centrist...
