well, there you have it. who will buy a 100K electric car from a company they've never heard of? the same people who spent 5-10K for an electric walker from a company they'd never heard of--Segway. pretty small markets. but 20 years from now, who knows.

another thing--200 miles highway sounds OK if you just commute with it, but what about if you go out of town? how are you supposed to charge it on the road? are you supposed to run an extension cord from your hotel bedroom? if more than three people try this the hotel chains will forbid it because they will say it is stealing electricity and they have no system in place to charge piecemeal for electricity. not to mention what do you do if you run out of juice in the middle of nowhere. gas station ain't gonna help.

the great thing about internal combustion engines is there is a multi-trillion-dollar infrastructure in place to support you. the infrastructure for electric cars and other alternatives will take a while. i saw an article in the local paper about a lady with an E-85 car (that's the ethanol/gas blend they use in Brazil). there is only one pumphead (a single pump at a single gas station) in all of Austin--250 square miles, so nearly twice as big as Detroit--where she can fill up.
