--Hardened cockpit doors would have made the hijackings impossible, indeed any hijackings

I take it you are 'Not' a fan of 'Mission Impossible' then.

"--An FBI focus on suspicious reports of activities by Arab students in the US would have caught the flight school episodes.

I knew quite a few Arab students in the US at the time, they were used to a huge lee way in coming and going without hindrance. They could come and go in and out of the country with great ease compared to non-Arab students. Just like most students they were all pretty suspicious if you ask me. I am not sure it would have made as much sense to to focus on the Arab flight school students then as it makes now. I had an Egyptian friend who was here getting his PhD in blue lazer technology. Back home he was a Coronel in the Egyptian military who supervised a fighter pilot programs. He didn't seem one bit suspicious, even though he criticised our culture a lot.

"--A White House focus on Bin Laden could have focused the bureaucracy to be looking in the right place. We know OBL was not high on the agenda, if he was there at all."

That would have been in Afghanistan, right? We still can't make a clear physical connection between the Terrorists and OBL. It's just by his comments that we link them at all.
