<We're one of the safest countries on earth from military threats. Our land neighbors are Canada and Mexico, friendly, non-threatening countries, so invasion is really a threat only to the most paranoid.>

I heard that there is constant invasion from Mexico. There are already Mexican flag-waving rallies in the USA, showing their strength. They have all but got some of the southern states into their possession.

There are more ways than shooting to take over places.

Japan has done much better with chequebook power than military power. Even though they lost the war, they have suffered no invasion. They have a lot of Americans as employees, many on minimum wage no doubt. The USA won the war and is working for Japan. Toyota is about the biggest car company now and General Motors and Ford are in trouble.

Canada isn't a threat as their population is too low and GDP reasonably high.

For a country that is one of the safest from military threats, it does a lot of military fighting. Google has a list of military adventures by the USA. It's long.
