Interesting rehash of the standard misperceptions.

Thanks for the pointer. Given the current negative outlook, it will be interesting to see how the next wave of OEM announcements are greeted. There are two fundamental misperceptions about IOMG which keep getting rehashed:

1. The Zip is in trouble

2. IOMG's future depends on Zip

Neither of these statements are true. The first can be easily refuted by walking into your local CompUSA and asking a floor manager how Zips are selling. When I remarked how few seemed to be in stock at my local store the response was "they sell like mad". For the second, inquire about Jaz. Funny how Jaz never seems to be mentioned in these doom-and-gloom articles about IOMG, isn't it? Hard to understand why Seagate would be partnering with IOMG to make Jaz disks and IOMG would be buying a factory from Quantum to produce Jaz drives if it were such an insignificant part of their overall business that it hardly rates a mention in an analysis of the company.

At this point I almost hope IOMG does get back to 9 so that all the sellers can be out and I can load up. Should be back in the 30s by 1Q97 at the latest.
