lol...that's a good one.

A number of years ago I was in a combined criminal and civil courtroom in Laguna. It was a huge courtroom with all kinds of people milling about as the court was calling cases. It was one of those places with an undercurrent of "buzz."

At one point, the judge bangs his gavel to get the attention of everyone. He says:

"You gotta hear this.
The defendant is here for driving with a suspended license, which, btw, has not been reinstated.
I asked him how he got here today and he told me 'I drove.'"

The judge then picks a public defender at random and tells him to meet his new client (the defendant), take him into a corner, and explain to him the facts of life.
