Altris Signs High Volume OEM Agreement With Data General; First Large Scale Reselling Agreement for Altris EB

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 1997--Altris Software,
Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:ALTS) today announced that it has completed its
first volume OEM agreement with Data General Corporation for Altris
EB(TM).
The high volume agreement is through December 1998, and
represents an initial commitment of 6,500 seats. This commitment is
in addition to the AV Image(R) product line and will extend and
reinforce the existing partnership between Altris and Data General.
"We expect over the next five years to sell more than 25,000
licenses of Altris EB," said Michael Fowler, director of Data
General's Imaging and Document Management Business Unit's engineering
and product marketing.
"Altris EB is the first and only enterprise-wide multi-media
document management system designed from the ground up to support
high volume production imaging. Data General is looking forward to
adding this capability to its existing portfolio of award-winning AV
Image products."
"This contract represents two significant steps for Altris and
our new product, Altris EB," stated Jay Tanna, Chairman and CEO of
Altris Software. "First, as a large-scale partner of Altris, Data
General has effectively endorsed our vision as the basis for their
enterprise document management offering. Second, the size of this
deal clearly illustrates the confidence that Data General has in our
products and specifically in Altris EB."
Altris EB, announced in April 1997, represents the next
generation of enterprise document management, built on a multi-tier
architecture, supporting a variety of common databases, networks,
file types and desktop platforms as well as internet connectivity.
The product offers both rich functionality and rapid deployability.
Data General has been a partner with Altris for more than 5 years
and has compiled an impressive list of customers in healthcare,
education, telecommunications and government. In addition, the
company has received many awards over the years, including most
recently the Imaging Magazine Editors' Choice Award and ENT Magazine
Readers' Choice Award.
Data General (NYSE:DGN), which is based in Westborough,
Massachusetts, specializes in providing servers, storage systems and
related software and services for customers worldwide. The company
