If I buy stocks listed on a Canadian exchange, I buy them in Canadian dollars, except for a few oddballs like Buffalo Gold that trade in US dollars on a Canadian exchange.

If I buy stocks listed on an American exchange, I convert some Canadian dollars to American and buy them them with that (and then hold my breath about the inevitable continuing decline of the debt-backed US dollar vs. the Canadian commodity-backed dollar).
