Yes, I have two accounts (actually three). I can hold American listed stocks in my Canadian dollar accounts -- one is in my RRSP, one not -- and vice-versa, but why bother except that I have a few American issues in my RRSP account.

I could hold a dual listed stock like IVN of HTE/HTE.UN in two accounts, but that would be way too complicated. I hold anything I can in Canadian dollars because I think it will continue to rise against the American dollar going forward.

Hope that helps, as I'm not quite sure what you're trying to get at.
