With all sorts of TV shows and articles I've read saying how easy it is to do this, my big question watching was:

Why go after HP rather than the phone companies who were too stupid to CALL the numbers of the people requesting the data to VERIFY that they were not being "pretexed?"

It is a big, fat DUH as far as I am concerned... but I think telecom crooks pay more to congress than HP... being HP thought it was a legally well behaved company and didn't need congressional protection.

If I give my valuable, personal information to someone, THEY should protect it... not some laws....
