That's very nice but you won't be able to survive through a nuclear winter or whatever unless you learn how to can food so that you don't get food poisoning.

When you factor in the cost of vinegar and the spices and the jars and the lids and running the stove to boil the jars and then boil the food and then boil the jars full of food, not to mention the cost of the fertilizer and various sprays, I don't think it's cost effective compared to buying cases of food from a warehouse.

Better to make gourmet items that have special little touches to give away as Christmas presents or serve to your guests to show off your gardening and culinary prowess.

It's all the rage now.
