My thought process is that the story was about Sunnis, a minority, killing Shias, allegedly for their involvement with the US. How can Sunnis even hope to control Iraq again, without Saddam? If they had the power to re-install Saddam, they would have the power to install some other dictator. Likely some of the leaders of the violent groups would like to be that new dictator (at least of Sunni areas, and if possible of all of Iraq.
