Every member of our military is a volunteer. If they were draftees, I'd buy your argument that we shouldn't support military intervention unless we go ourselves.

I can't remember for sure but it seems like I remember you served in Viet Nam. If so, was that as a draftee or as a volunteer? I've noticed that a lot of men who were drafted to serve in Viet Nam now want everybody else to be subjected to compulsory military service.

As for me, I doubt the military would want me. I'm over 50, fat, flat footed, myopic, have rheumatoid arthritis, and Type 2 diabetes.

What I do is work, raise kids, pay taxes, vote, volunteer in civic associations, and donate money to worthy causes, including a group of American military stationed in Iraq that builds schools.

Maybe you'd rather live in a country where only soldiers, sailors, and marines can vote. If so, you may not like living in America.
