I don't know if pulling out will reduce the violence at all- I don't know if anything will, until the Iraqis burn themselves out on killing each other. I think Iraq is in a civil war, and I'm not sure there is much we (or anyone else) can do about it- except be in the middle of it, which doesn't strike me as a fabulous idea.

I've been worried about civil war since before the war- it's one reason I'm against it. This is a decent summation of what I felt, and what I still feel.

At this time I think there is very little we can do to make Iraq more peaceful. Leaving might help, but it's a gamble. I don't think leaving or staying is really going to "help". I think Iraq is going to have its civil war whether we are there or not (as it is now) and I think it will get a lot worse before it gets better, whether we leave or whether we stay- so frankly, I don't see the point in staying and pouring money down a gopher hole. It's too long a shot we'll pull a rabbit out of that hat- always was, and continues to be.
