I like wild game, almost of any sort. Like you, deer, elk (lots of elk!), moose, caribou, squirrel, rabbit, goose, duck, ptarmagan (sp?), etc, etc. But wild turkey, ug! They eat a lot of green acorns and pine nuts, and the meat takes on that flavor. If you've tasted green acorns and pine nuts, well, you have an idea of what they taste like. And tough!

It might be possible to soak them in kerosene for a couple days to remove the flavor, I don't know. <G>

I gotta say, though, they are the clowns of the wild. Funniest animals I've ever watched. You can hide in a bush as they walk past and quickly grab a feather, and the ensuing panic and shuffling to regain dignity is hilarious. To watch them roost at night is like a 1920s slapstick comedy film.
