It seems as though he should have read AMD's complaint. Just for the record, AMD's attorneys handled the 3M case. They were the best in the business then. Not saying Intel's are bad, they are good too.
AMD was lining up evidence for this case unbeknownst to Intel, for several years. Intel got very sloppy.
Now, that said, I don't know who will win, simply because it's a jury trial, and it's often said by lawyers, nobody predicts winners in a jury trial.
Well some might do that, but it's not very predictable what a jury will do no matter what the evidence says.
It really doesn't matter anyway, as your friend said, Opteron did really well. Still, the lawsuit goes back further than Opteron, and practices back then are not proved or disproved by what Opteron did, they are about the things that Intel did. |
