Organic means containing carbon but has morphed into farming heritage seeds, the old ones, and no chemicals. We could do that but why raise 50 bu/acre corn when we can raise 175 bu/acre corn? Several years ago they brought out Star Lite corn, GMO, resists corn root worm. Guys like AlGore moaned about how it will kill off all the Monarch Butterflies. I used to see about one Monarch a week 10 years ago, I live in a county with 6 Billion stalks of Star Lite corn and I'm seeing 6-8 Monarchs a day now.
