If BIG OIL, which is commonly maligned, killed as many people by negligence and incompetence, there would be hysteria.

But the medical guilds have always had a privileged position without responsibility [other than a self-serving self-regulation].

If it was a real industry, with brands that mattered, such as Castol, Wal-Mart, Nokia, Coca Cola, they would take their quality control and management seriously.

It would simply not happen that umpty $billion would be wiped off their market capitalisations by such blundering stupidity. There would be quality control galore, training and capability developed to do things well instead of badly. Also, there would be more competition so prices would be lower.
