Oddly, I actually think that with Webb's prior record on women we can assume he will be extra careful in the future to be diplomatic on women's issues. So its ok.

In the early 90s there was a lot of noise about the treatment of the female cadets at VMI etc. I think it just went over the line for anybody unless the really entrenched military brass who didn't get it. I mean things like the male cadets lighting the female cadets on fire, crap like that. It was just way over the line, reminded me of the off color comments some military brass made about that young japanese rape case in the 80s ("they could have just bought a girl").

Somehow the period from the 80s up until early 90s was when the military was WAY BEHIND the rest of the country on womens issues and that is when Webb made these remarks. If he had done it in the 70s... different story.

But ok, it was so grossly off color I am certain he will be watched like a hawk if he is elected... which I expect.
