Yes, your post made eminent sense in the main, and at the same time you've introduced a number of ponderables for which I may require some time to respond. In the meantime it's my hope that others will jump in and respond, first. If I might leave you with one area to contemplate in the interim, it's your notion - indeed, most believe - that spectrum is a finite resource. David Reed and others have performed some interesting work and theorizing on this subject, suggesting that the linear manner in which we regard spectrum today requires an across-the-board rethinking, and further suggests that the notion "dedicated" spectrum per any application may be an unnecessary artifact of the past that continues to drive present day design. In fact, I believe there was a brief dialog in this forum where Petere and a few of us discussed this subject at one point. In any event, if the topic of spectrum economics and the rules governing its "allocation" interests you, then I'd recommend that you read David's writings on his "Open Spectrum" page:
