++ Also, if BRCM should win with their "minor" 3G IPR, what does this imply for the Q in their GSM infringement action which essentially enabled GSM to extend its life by 10 years and compete against CDMA2000?

How have you come to the conclusion that it is "minor" IPR? Right now, it has the potential to shut down Q's shipments of WCDMA and DO handsets. Qualcomm has never made a claim that they would be able to work around this IPR if they lose the suit.

In other words, could this potential loss set up a HUGE win for the Q against NOK (BRCM /others) for GSM infringement?

It has zero impact.
