Sep. 23-- "Robertson Stephens & Co. lowered the estimated per share earnings of America Online Incorporated for the fiscal year ending June 1999 to $1.65 from $2.00."

Could AOL have shot itself in the foot by taking in all that upfront cash in its deals? After all, the lovefest with Wall Street was predicated on the whiff of fat underwriting fees from a secondary offering of stock. Could this be a sign that Wall Street may feel that AOL has taken in enough money to forego any imminent secondary? If so,
other earnings cuts could follow.
