The market is not infallible. Just witness RIMM last week. The market did not know what earnings would be, then after hours the stock was traded up more than $17. If the market knows everything then it would been reflected during trading hours. Nevertheless, the market is generally much smarter than the average investor. Just like the casinos, you bet with the house than the player at the slot machine because the odds is favoring the market more often than not.
