Not immediately....

news.yahoo.com

Hastert aides said they had been alerted to an exchange between Foley and one congressional page in the fall of 2005 but were not told about any sexually explicit e-mails or text messages, according to a statement issued by the speaker's office.

They said Foley had been warned to stop any such contact and that Hastert did not become aware of the incident until the spring of 2006.

My questions: why warn to stop such conduct unless SOMEONE in authority was concerned about it and if Mr. Hastert became aware of a situation in the Spring of 2006 that was serious enough (despite claims of no knowledge of explicit nature of the e-mails)to have caused someone in authority to warn Foley to stop....what did Hastert do when he found out about it in the Spring? Did he send it to the ethics commitee? Did he start an investigation? Did he reprimand the congressman? Did he just do nothing and hope Foley had "stopped"?
