The Republican party during the years you mention were not the "holier than thou" party. Republican party members did not utter phrases like "Godless", "sinful" when they spoke of their opponents. There was no Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson in the forefront of the Republican party then.

But nowadays, the party has those religious personas dominate the frontlines. They get away with calling for assassinations of foreign leaders. A "man of Gad" talking about taking a life!!! And the Republican leaders are OK with it.

So let us keep this discussion in perspective. It is similar to blaming someone like Clinton for the failures of Bush in his war against terrorism, Iraq and the 9/11 incident.

When will Bush say "The Buck Stops Here"
