Republican voters ended Crane's career for having sex w/an underage girl. Democratic voters figured Studds having sex with a 15 yo boy was AOK. They are so tolerant.

Neither page was 15 as you suggest. Neither were under the age of consent at that time. The major difference between the two men which may have weighed heavily with the Republican voters: Crane was married with 4 kids. Studds was single. Given the attitudes back then, Studds was in bad taste; Crane was in bad taste and an adulterer.
