Ted, > And whose reponsible for that surprise?

Taking Jim at his word, it seems some knew about Foley's perversions for quite a while. The Dems are accusing Republicans of covering this up and putting politics ahead of the welfare of minors. But whoever sat on this story until now is guilty of the exact same thing.

Its strange how you get to your interpretations. Most people suspected Foley might be gay. They didn't think he was a pedophile. I don't think anyone including the media intended it as a "cover up". After all, an in-the-closet Republican has never been very unusual. ;-) So long as they are not causing anyone any harm who cares.......its hardly a story.

Plus there's the question of who saved the IM logs. AFAIK, instant messages are peer-to-peer, i.e. there is no server in the middle that stores and forwards the messages, unlike e-mail. So that leaves two people: Foley and the minor. Something stinks here.

It was the pages. When the ABC reporter placed his story on an ABC log discussing the less predatory email, shortly thereafter pages from previous classes got in touch and showed him their IMs from Maf.

Why does it stink that they did that?
