My mom was the picture of health and happiness until my dad died, nearly 6 years ago. She has been on the slippery slope ever since. I encouraged her to move to an independent living facility very near me shortly after his death. She was enthusiastic about that, but I could very soon tell she had given up on everything. Her health and mental well being slips away almost daily.
