Ichy,

Can we put this in perspective? As we all know, Israel planned to attack Lebanon years ago and was just waiting for an excuse. It did not need to blow up its airport, destroy its roads, bridges and power plants, and displace a million civilians. As we know, killing a thousand people and doing billions of dollars of damage to Lebanon has produced nothing for Israel except renewing the hatred in the region that drives its security problems. Lebanon, a weak and politically fragile country with several religious and ethnic groups, did not deserve to be bombed back to the stone age, and we as Canadians should have our sympathy with that fellow member of the Francophonie, not with Israel as Mr. Harper seems to. IMO it was an embarrassment for Canada to be standing up for Israel when it did this -- Lebanon did not attack Israel, Israel unilaterally attacked Lebanon, and Hezbollah is not Lebanon.
