For example, an October 25 call will be automatically exercised if the underlying security's closing price is $25.05 or greater at expiration.

In this hypothetical illustration, you would need to notify your broker ONLY if:

An underlying security's closing price is below $25.05 and you want to exercise the call option.

The underlying security's closing price is $25.05 or greater at expiration and you do not want to exercise the call option.

Do-not-exercise instructions can be accepted only on the last day of trading of that options' duration
