I already told Ted about the "October Surprise" that the L.A. Times tried to pull on (R)nold in 2003. Supposedly the L.A. Times collected up a bunch of "Gropenator" allegations but just wasn't ready to publish them all until ONE WEEK BEFORE THE RECALL.

Of course, the stunt backfired for a lot of reasons, and the L.A. Times lost a lot of subscribers.

In comparison, the Foley brouhaha seems like a perfect October Surprise. After all, pedophilia and the act of covering it up is rather heinous in itself, is it not? So heinous that no one would bother asking the media why they would sit on this story until the right time to break it. Except for that "whack job" Rush, but who the f--- listens to him anyway?
