NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Dell Inc. (DELL : dell inc com fell 1.4% to $22.74 Tuesday, a day after closing above the $23 level for the first time in 3 months. American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu downgraded the Round Rock, Tex. computer maker to neutral from buy, citing evidence that the ramp in systems based on Advanced Micro Devices chips has been slow and modest. "We view this as a negative that could prove to be a set-back for Dell in regaining marketing rebates, not to mention in building a stronger position in consumer and servers," Wu said. "In our view, Dell is not taking drastic enough steps in fixing its problems and we believe improvement will likely take longer than expected." Wu cut his fiscal 2007 earnings estimate to $1.05 a share from $1.07 and his revenue forecast to $57.8 billion from $58 billion. For 2008, his earnings estimate was lowered to $1.20 a share from $1.30 and his revenue projection was cut to $62 billion from $63.4 billion.
