From my travels, it looks like prostitution is universal, now made easier by the Internet as far as the patrons finding what they want. Couple that with economic desperation and the deal is closed pretty quickly.

Curiously, I never heard about any pedophilia or child sex tourism in the Netherlands, though Belgium had that notorious case several years ago.

I see different expectations for a Washington page or intern, and certainly expect more of the authorities charged with protecting them from predators.
