"The only reason you accept Christ is fear of future punishment."
Nothing wrong with a healthy fear of God. Sure, half of it is the respect, honor, love side, but my human nature side does not want to spend an eternity apart from the Almighty who created the human race and loved them enough to take a human form and suffer and die just to give them a way out. It's that CHOICE component that He refers to as "in His image," and that is all that makes us different from all other creation. If you didn't have to choose, then it's a pretty pointless point. If everyone is going anyway, then those disciples who spent the rest of their days running around telling others how to be saved and then many were tortured and killed -- boy, what a bunch of dopes. I guess they, having spent so much one-on-one time with Jesus himself, didn't have the intellectual Bible-deciphering skills that you have. I can't wait to see all those rappers using the F-word in their lyrics and abusing women and police but accepting their golden awards and thanking God in Heaven someday.
I hope you know I am purposely being "obtuse," as Barney would say, but the points are still real.
I remain,
